The Modern Woman Morning Routine

By TupperwareⓇ for the Modern Woman Founder, Joelle Larade

Establishing a morning routine (the right morning routine) can be life-changing. We all have a "morning routine", really, whether it is intentional or not. Maybe your routine is to sleep past your alarm every morning, throw together an outfit on the fly, put your hair up in a bun and rush out the door with a bagel in hand (no judgement!). The important question is: Are you happy with your morning routine? If the answer is no, then read on for tips and ideas on how you can make your morning routine work for you.

When adjusting your morning routine to make it more intentional, it's important to start small. If you change just one small thing about your routine, it's more likely that you'll stick to it instead of completely overhauling your routine and starting from scratch.

The Modern Woman Morning Routine can serve as inspiration for areas that you'd like to improve in your own morning routine, but it doesn't need to be a blueprint. We all have different lives that will demand different morning routines. If your morning routine makes your life easier and brings you joy, it's the right one for you.

1. Skin Care Routine

I know, I know... A routine within a routine. But I loooove my skin care routine. It brings me so much joy in the morning. I never skip it. I keep my routine SUPER simple! I don't have time for a 10-step skin care routine on weekday mornings. I use a gentle cleanser like Boscia Clear Complexion Cleanser, then I follow up with a light moisturizer. I really like Boscia Green Tea Oil-Free Moisturizer. Two products. This takes me two minutes but it makes me feel like I have my shit together and starts my day off on the right foot.

2. Coffee Time

Coffee time is a special time. Any coffee lovers know the feeling when that first sip hits your lips in the morning. Ahhhhh. Sweet bliss. It is SUPER important to me to make time for my morning coffee. If I don't get to sip my coffee on the couch for at least 10 minutes, I won't be having a good day (watch out, haha). To save myself some time in the morning, I prep my coffee maker the night before, so all I have to do when I wake up is press a button. Done and done.

3. Getting Ready

When I've sat with my coffee for as long as I possibly can without making myself late for work, I start getting ready. This usually involved a 5 minute makeup routine, taming my bedhead and throwing on a cute but comfortable outfit. For makeup, I do: concealer, foundation, blush, brow balm and mascara. Simple and effective. I usually don't use an heat on my hair, but if I do, I'll do a quick curl. Nothing that takes more than 10 minutes. Ain't nobody got time for that. Then, I go to my closet and pick out something that speaks to me. My workplace is pretty casual, so for fall and winter that's usually leggings and a long sweater. When the weather warms up, I like high waisted pants or jeans and a blouse. If you want to save yourself even more time in the morning, lay out an outfit the night before.

4. Breakfast

Breakfast is another important part of my morning routine. I don't like to skip it. Sometimes I have to take my breakfast with me, but that's okay! You can really make your breakfast as complicated or as simple as you want it to be. It can be as simple as grabbing a banana or muffin on your way out the door. Some of my personal favourite breakfast options are a smoothie, a breakfast wrap, or yogurt with fruit and granola.

5. Pack a Lunch

The last step in my morning routine is to pack my lunch for work. I usually always have something on hand, whether it is something I prepped on Sunday or leftovers from dinner the night before. I pack that up in an Eco+ Lunch It Container, throw in a few snacks and a Bubly, and off I go!

There you have it, the Modern Woman Morning Routine. What does your morning routine look like?

xoxo
