Mom-Daughter Date Ideas for the Overwhelmed Modern Mom

By TupperwareⓇ for the Modern Woman Founder, Joelle Larade

Mother's Day is coming up real soon! What do you and your mini-me have planned?! If the answer is "nothing yet", I've got you covered. Here are some ideas for a no-fuss Mother's Day. Who cares if you have to plan it yourself? At least it will be something you will genuinely enjoy. These date ideas don't involve too much planning and are designed with relaxation in mind. Happy Mother's Day modern mamas!

1. Mani Pedi Date

A classic mother-daughter date idea, but for good reason! Who doesn't love a mani-pedi date? All you have to do is book appointments and show up. Done and done. So simple and so extravagant at the same time. The weather is starting to warm up, soon enough it will be sandal season! Crank up the cute factor and get matching colours.

2. Retail Therapy

What Modern Woman doesn't love a good shopping trip?! Take your mini-me along for a day of retail therapy. Hit up all of your favorite stores, try on extravagant pieces just for fun, shop until you drop! When your arms get tired from carrying all those heavy bags, take a load off and have lunch at your mini-me's favorite spot. Get fun drinks and dessert! Go all out.

3. At-Home Spa Day

If you're a homebody and would rather stay home, or you can't arrange childcare, bring the spa to you with an at-home spa day! I bet you have everything you need right at home too. Run bubble baths, paint your nails, cut up some cucumbers, dim the lights and light a few candles to set the mood. Google has an endless amount of recipes for facials you can make at home using ingredients from your fridge or pantry. You could even find a recipe for a hair treatment! Mix the ingredients with your mini-me and enjoy the experience together. You could even give each other mini massages. Sign us up!

4. Play Date

This is another great idea if you can't arrange childcare. Contact a few of your mom friends or your daughter's friends' moms and get together for a play date! AKA: entertain the tiny humans while mamas have some fun. You could meet up at the park for a picnic, or in the evening for a few cocktails or mocktails. Whatever floats your boat!

5. Coffee Date

Who doesn't love a good coffee date?! Bring your mini-me along to your favourite coffee shop for a treat and a drink. Sit and stay awhile. Pro tip: hit up the library or a book store beforehand to pick up some entertainment for your little one (and yourself). Then, head to your favourite coffee shop to get your signature drink and a sweet treat. No holding back! Extra whip? Yes please! Treat yourself.

Often, us Modern Women don't make enough time for ourselves in our day to day lives, and sometimes even on special occasions DEDICATED to us like Mother's Day! Promise me this: Do something you will ACTUALLY enjoy to celebrate yourself this Mother's Day. Even better if you can implement these no-fuss mommy and me moments in your life the rest of the year too!

Take care, modern mamas.

xoxo
